The people behind Fundwise
Local. Credentialed. Mission-driven. We're not a faceless platform — we're a small team of Accredited Financial Counselors who've built our practice around one idea: financial wellness should be available to every employee, not just executives.

Midwest Money Mentor, LLC
I've spent years watching small business owners pour everything into their companies while their employees quietly struggle with financial stress. It's not that people don't want to get ahead — it's that they never learned how. They have insurance but don't understand their HSA. They have a 401(k) but don't know how much to contribute. They make good money but feel like they're constantly falling behind.
For small and medium-sized businesses, this isn't just a wellness problem — it's a retention and productivity problem. Employees who are financially anxious show up distracted, leave more often, and cost more in turnover than most employers realize. But the companies that could make the biggest difference — SMBs — are the ones least likely to have any financial wellness program at all. That's the gap Fundwise is built to close.
I'm an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC®), certified through the AFCPE — the gold standard for financial counseling education. That credential means I've met rigorous requirements for ethics, client-centered practice, and ongoing continuing education. More importantly, it means I'm legally bound to act in your employees' interest, not push products or investment schemes. That's not always the norm in financial services. At Fundwise, it's the only way we work.
Fundwise is my answer to the financial stability gap. We're building something that makes financial wellness genuinely universal — not a perk for tech companies with big HR budgets, but a real program that any SMB can offer and any employee can actually use.
Credential
AFC® stands for Accredited Financial Counselor — a professional certification awarded by the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE). It is one of the most rigorous designations in financial counseling, requiring hundreds of hours of coursework, supervised client experience, and annual continuing education.
When you work with an AFC®, you're working with someone who has demonstrated competency across the full spectrum of personal finance — from budgeting and debt management to behavioral finance and ethics. The credential is publicly verifiable and requires adherence to a strict code of conduct.
Why it matters
Financial coaching is an unregulated title — almost anyone can call themselves a coach. The AFC® credential is different. Here's what it guarantees:
